Artist Bio

Sammie Biter is an emerging ceramic sculptor.

Raised in Sedona, AZ she was inspired by the beautiful landscape and by the fine art of the area, especially the figurative bronze sculpture. She created her first bronze sculpture in high school. When she attended Northern Arizona University she took several sculpture classes learning metalwork and found object sculpting. After graduating in 2014 she experimented with assemblage. But she found her favorite medium, clay, in 2021 and hasn’t looked back yet.

She creates ceramic sculptures of the female form for people that want to be reminded of their connection with the earth, the body, the feminine power of creation, and the emotional landscape of the human experience.

Residing in Flagstaff, AZ she sculpts, is an educator for the Museum of Northern Arizona, and is inspired daily by her young daughter and musician husband.
